Being a member of the RVIA stregthens the unified voice which advocates on behalf of the RV industry to the nations legislators. The membership also helps guide product design decisions so that customers get safer, quality products. The RVIA helps us build valuable connections and provides us with industry insights so that our products can be more customer focused. The RVIA promotes RV indusrty growth while simultaniously working to create RV industry sustainablility through training and education.
Unite as a Single Voice
The RVIA acts as a national advocate for the RV industry, collaborating with government officials to promote policies that benefit the industry, safeguard it from restrictive laws, and simplify RV ownership for consumers. It also partners with other outdoor industry members to strengthen its advocacy efforts and present a united voice to legislators.
Influence the Standards that Define the Industry
The Standards team oversees 500 safety standards for RVs, conducting surprise inspections at member facilities every 6-8 weeks to ensure compliance with NFPA 1192, ANSI, and other standards. They also educate manufacturers on regulatory changes to keep the industry informed. Additionally, the Association collaborates with the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) and offers technical training to members through various platforms.
Make Connections to Drive Business
The RVIA is a pivotal connector to the manufacturers of 98% of America’s RVs, offering visibility and collaboration. It is steered by nearly thirty committees and a board of directors who chart the association’s course. Members benefit from various educational events and training sessions, both virtual and in-person. Active involvement in these activities empowers members to drive the RV industry forward, stay informed on pertinent issues, highlight innovations, build valuable connections, and gain insights to enhance their business growth.
Stay Informed with Market Data and Trends
The RVIA spearheads research on market trends and consumer preferences, enabling members to customize their RVs and related products. They offer insights into future markets and detailed shipment data, aiding members in aligning production with business needs. Access to this research supports members in making informed decisions within the dynamic RV market.
Promote and Grow the Industry
In 1994, RV industry leaders launched the Go RVing campaign to unify manufacturers, dealers, and campgrounds, with a focus on enhancing the consumer experience. Today, Go RVing is a major force in public relations, promoting the freedom of RV travel to millions. It focuses on attracting, diversifying, and retaining RV enthusiasts, offering industry partners valuable resources like sales leads, media content, and best practices.
Recruit and Train RV Technicians
Despite a surge in RV sales, the number of skilled RV technicians has not kept pace. To address this, the RVIA established the RV Technical Institute in June 2018. This 501(c)3 non-profit organization, with significant investment, offers industry-standard training and has educated over 10,000 technicians, adding more than 1,000 new techs in 2022 alone, while also focusing on improving the RV customer experience.
